Hi. I’m Hemlock. Since my recent return to the fifth circle of hell, also known as X (previously Twitter), - yes, that is the platform’s full legal name - you may have seen me shitposting from the handle chthonicOrchid. This brain dump of an article is an earnest attempt to provide answers and mental scaffolding for the Avalanche “community” on a topic of discussion near and dear to all of our hearts.

Though the conclusions drawn are likely applicable to other chains as well, our focus will remain on Avalanche. The topic at hand is that Avalanche (pause for applause) is for business.

Guest writers and Smitty alike have beaten this dead horse of a topic well and truly deep into the dirt. I, however, being a pretentious know-it-all, felt that a moratorium was in order.

And so I stand here before you all with shovel in hand, prepared to exhume this rotting, bloated corpse of a conversation in the hopes another few swings against the well-shattered ribcage of this rhetorical ungulate might yield some scraps of wisdom.

Instead of focusing on figures, graphs, or any sort of competent financial evaluation of this business-forward strategy, this article’s emphasis will be on relationships between groups of people. Three groups in particular, which for ease of reference will be assigned a witty and snappy moniker.

The first group, which we will call "the Emploids'' is, to put it plainly, the people who hold true sway within the Foundation and Ava Labs. This group should be understood to be the employees and executives of the Avalanche Foundation with actual decision-making power, those who come up with the big picture business strategy of the Avalanche project and delegate to others to enact those strategies.

These are not lowly engineers, code monkeys, PR hires, social media managers, or other employees. They are team leads, managers, and executives. For ease of reference, Emin himself is within this group.

The second group is you: bagholders "the Community". Retail investors, degenerate gambling addicts, buildoooors, and independent validator node operators. These people are, in some sense, the primary userbase of the Avalanche network, some of whom have a vested financial interest in the broader success of Avalanche.

More often, this group generally holds an interest in a higher average price per AVAX token. You are more than likely in the "Community" group if you are reading this article. If you’re not: hi! I promised Smitty I’d to be nice to you.

Our third and final group, "the Suits" can then be understood as those individuals who work within and hold substantial sway in any current or potential enterprise customers or partners of the Foundation. These are people who comprise institutional forces and corporate entities that are in the process of being courted by the Foundation.

This group is not static, but relevant or high profile members of the Suits would be the executive and managerial class within Hyundai, FIFA, BlackRock, and RWA tokenization firms/entities. There are many more than provided as examples, and I’m sure more will be announced as I write this article.

The aforementioned oversimplified narrative is as such: There exists a social gap or disconnect - pick which word feels best for you! - between the Emploids and the Community. There also exists a stronger social association or similarity between the Emploids and the Suits.

Both of these factors are relevant (in my opinion) to explain a meaningful contributing factor to the Foundation’s current business-forward strategies.

What do I mean by social gap?

So what do I even mean when I say this stuff? What does this gap look like? Why care? Should I talk to my doctor about those chest pains I’ve been having? How can I be so sure that this particular approach of diagnosing the problems that plague the Avalanche ecosystem is even relevant or correct?

Good questions, and ones I endeavour to answer with just enough of an air of legitimacy that Smitty may consider inviting me to write some more academic slop for this esteemed, luxurious column.

A social gap - for the purposes of this article - can be understood as a lack of common objective or shared perspective between two groups of people. The clearest examples of this social phenomenon can be found in simple dichotomies or groups which have clearly opposite interests. Police and criminals, a logging company’s executives and environmental activists, vegans and livestock farmers, you get the general idea.

Two groups do not necessarily need to have such clearly opposite interests for a disconnect to occur. A combination of unrelated interests, differences of ethnicity, language, faith, wealth, where an individual lives, how they speak, how they dress, etc. are all contributing factors to whether two groups of people will be more or less likely to lack a common understanding of one another.

Why does this matter? How can I be sure?

To put it bluntly, you, the bagholder, are not like them. Individuals within the Emploid group have little in common on an interpersonal level with individuals within the Community group. To use Emin again as an easy example of a member of the Emploids: Emin isn’t in your group chats. He doesn’t really get your jokes, he probably doesn’t think the memes about him being hot are very funny. (Ask Nobs!) Scandalous, I know.

The guy doesn’t even run his own Twitter account. Emin is a Princeton alum, worked at Bell Labs, was a professor at Cornell. What exactly does he have in common with the unwashed masses demanding another memecoin szn? Why exactly would he himself care?

I am emphasizing this lack of real connection or interpersonal understanding between the Emploids (Emin, in the given example) and the Community to illustrate that what is obvious from the perspective of retail investors is not necessarily what is obvious or even desirable for those atop the ivory tower.

If the social dynamic between the Emploids and the Community can be described as a state of relative social disconnect, then the dynamic between the Emploids and the Suits can be comparatively described as connection. Burgeoning, not yet fully entrenched, but a connection nonetheless; there is a clear desire for that connection to continue from the perspective of the Emploids.

Those individuals who are higher-ups at FIFA, BlackRock, and Hyundai are people who share a social class with the Foundation’s higher-ups. The interests of the Emploids and the Suits are generally more aligned when compared to the interests of the Community and the Emploids, or the Community and the Suits.

The lifestyles of these higher-ups are generally comparable. These people share a social bubble together. They may have attended the same schools, might vacation in the same places, and importantly: they all understand their own position within a social hierarchy. They are like one another. They are, to be blunt once more, not like you.

Private equity and corporate entities becoming the focus of the Foundation’s business strategy is not an accident or an occurrence of chance, or an exclusively financially motivated venture. There is a clear desire from crypto institutions to be taken seriously and be respected by those they consider to be their peers.

There is a want to be invited into important rooms where important people make important decisions about important business matters, to possess their fair share in the distribution of the power that is inherent to money, commerce, and technology. After all, it is who you know that matters most in the realm of important business.

Why should I care?

Financial evaluation of the business-forward approach is left as an exercise to the reader. What I am here to communicate is a part of the why that has gone under-discussed, and the most repeated, pleaded why I have seen usually goes something like this:

Why can the Foundation not do both? Why can’t they appeal to us and to them, work with both their actual userbase and their institutional peers?

I won’t sugarcoat it. I believe this is, among other reasons, because the Foundation would be taken less seriously by the Suits if they funded a memecoin szn, or gave grants out to Giraffe for his NFT collection or took similar community-focused actions.

To put it another way: we are now the side hoe. The Foundation is trying to get with an Ivy League baddie and cannot be seen with us in public, lest they be thought less of by her friends. It is trade-up time, and we are not good for optics.

There are of course constraints of labour hours and limited resources to be considered here too: the Foundation does not have unlimited capital expenditure. They need to focus on what they believe is their best long term survival strategy, and entwining themselves into as many tradfi and other generally institutional business dealings as possible may be their best route to achieve longevity.

I will state for the final time that I don’t know if that assessment is correct, and I’m transparently unequipped to evaluate that matter. What I do know is that while that particular goal is pursued, morale observably plummets for the rest of us, and token price falls with it.

Token price is of course the most glaring consequence of the shift in the Foundation’s approach from the perspective of the community - and the focus of many a snarky reply to Foundation business announcements on Twitter. The erosion of value for the network’s token is I feel, a somewhat predictable consequence of decreased belief in the Foundation from both community insiders and casual retail investors watching from afar.

To reiterate once more: the gap in common understanding between the Emploids and the Community contributes to the Emploids deprioritizing or becoming apathetic to the potential detrimental effects of their new way of organizing their efforts.

This apathy harms the financial prospects of the userbase, which dampens demand for retail level investment into the token, which in turn contributes to the AVAX token’s depreciation relative to the rest of the market.

While the Community may not see the harm in chucking liquidity into memecoins or giving grants to aesthetically ‘unserious’ projects, the Emploids - perhaps rightfully, from their own perspective - do see harm in such an act beyond simple capital expenditure. It would make them appear unprofessional within the social context of desiring to court institutional, governmental, or traditional financial partnerships.

Well now what?

What is to be done with this information? Unfortunately, I can’t say much that wouldn’t be an act of repetition. I can preach about the Foundation needing to communicate better, how they need to open up more to us and be honest about their intentions, but we’ve tried that dialogue before. We’re likely trying it again, right now, as this article is being written.

There are dysfunctional elements to the relationship between the Community and the Emploids, this much is irrefutable. The extent to which this dysfunction is directly responsible for worsened financial outcomes for the foundation and the userbase is a matter of debate and no sure thing. Perhaps they believe this will all be worth it, short term pain for long term gain. This is yet to be seen.

All I know is that for now, we are watching across the bar as our (hot) ex tries pickup lines on people far, far out of our league, and when we try to walk over to say hi, they act like we’ve never met.

crash out? no…burn out

I could open this edition with a proposal number. I’m opening with a feeling instead, because that’s actually what this past week was.

One of the most visible community leaders this ecosystem has announced his last day on the C-chain this week. 17K impressions, 248 likes, 136 replies, and within the hour half of crypto twitter was in his mentions trying to figure out if it was even real. That reaction tells you everything. When someone has carried sentiment for an entire chain for this long, for free, people genuinely cannot process the idea of him putting it down.

And I want to talk about him less as a person and more as a case study, because what happened to him is what happens to every community leader in this ecosystem eventually if nothing changes.

Here’s the pattern he named on his way out: a hopeful DM from Avalabs once a month, then radio silence until the next one. Over and over, for a year. That’s not a communication mishap. That’s a system that extracts energy from its most committed people and returns nothing. You can run a volunteer on belief for a long time. You cannot run them on belief forever while actively ghosting them in between.

Watch what the community did with the news, because it’s revealing. The gallows humor kicked in immediately - jokes about a “fud2earn” meta, a GameFi-Ponzi bit that landed because everyone got it instantly. And then, genuinely, an apology tweet: blame me, I was sub par, I’m sorry for the damage I did to the token price. Nobody actually believes one person tanked AVAX. That joke only works because half the replies have felt some version of that same guilt for staying this long. When your most loyal people start apologizing to each other for the price action, that’s not a morale problem. That’s a leadership vacuum.

Buried in the jokes was the line that actually matters: the “emploids” — community slang (I started it ;)), and it’s a good word - want everyone pivoted toward Avalabs equity instead of the AVAX token, because equity is the thing they’re already holding. Say what you want about the phrasing. That’s the entire equity debate compressed into one sentence, and it came from the community, not from the company.

And one more that stuck with me all week: the observation that it’s called an avalanche community proposal, but somewhere along the way it stopped having much to do with the community. Not clever. Just true, and everyone reading it already knew it was true.

Somewhere in the replies someone also joked that at $6 AVAX, a 51% attack on the primary network is basically affordable. That’s a joke about token price. It’s also, quietly, not just a joke.

I’m not eulogizing anybody, but burnout among community leaders isn’t a personality quirk - it’s an outcome. It’s what a system produces when a handful of unpaid people hold up sentiment for an entire chain while the institutions behind that chain pivot to enterprise and BUSINESS and go quiet. This week one of the strongest people we have hit his limit publicly. The rest of us are running on the same fumes. Somebody other than us has to start reinvesting in this, because we’re tapped out.

what’s actually growing (and why it doesn’t feel like it)

Let’s talk about the parts of this chain that are genuinely working, because they exist, and burying them under this week’s vibes isn’t fair to the people building.

An optimistic case made the rounds this week that’s worth engaging seriously: $13.7B in RWAs are now live on Avalanche L1s, with a credible line to another $14B on top of that. The framing was a four-step process - tech is done, adoption is happening right now, capitalization and payoff are just ahead.

I don’t disagree with the first two steps. I disagree that the third one is automatic. $13.7B in real assets sitting on this chain and AVAX is at 5-year lows. Adoption without value capture isn’t a phase you grow out of - it’s a gap, and it’s the actual gap nobody in this week’s entire debate managed to close. The casino already paid out. Step three’s still nowhere.

The same gap showed up in a different set of numbers this week: Avalanche’s distributed RWA value hit a new all-time high of $2.1B. AVAX’s total market cap is $2.86B. The assets sitting on top of this network are closing in on being worth more than the token that secures it.

Zoom out further and it gets stranger. The C-chain did roughly 80M monthly transactions, up 4x in a year. Around 70% of that is USDC moving around. Fees got cut 96% along the way, and the yield on those stablecoin transfers goes to Circle, not to Avalanche - Ava Labs earns a sliver of a cent per transaction on a chain doing more volume than it ever has. “The network is winning by every usage metric. The token is quietly subsidizing someone else’s business model.” - some aixbt quote

Same week, the FIFA World Cup partnership dropped - 100k+ people got ticket access on-chain, genuinely one of the biggest brand moments this ecosystem has landed all year. Payment happened on the C-chain. The NFTs live over on FIFACollect. No bridge, no ICTT connecting the two.

Many chains, acting like many chains, in the same week we were arguing about equity vehicles instead of interoperability. The whole founding thesis is one experience across many chains. The biggest announcement of the summer proved the opposite in real time.

Growth isn’t the problem. Growth is actually happening, faster than most people give it credit for. The problem is none of it is required to touch AVAX in order to happen, and nobody with the ability to change that has said a word about it publicly.

build games: a case study in how not to run incentives

I know its beating a dead horse, but I haven’t had a chance to comment publicly on it and I want to. Build Games was supposed to be proof that the chain was actually investing in builders - that someone saw us, and there was a real path for people building on this chain, and that we were genuinely excited to have something to do this summer.

First place took $100k, posted about “finessing the judges” with AI, and has shipped nothing in a month. Second place, who was it, i forg3t. And third place, the Grotto L1, is still shipping daily. Make it make sense.

Compare that to over a year ago $KET - 300+ community members who’d been showing up for months, homegrown, organic, no shortcuts. Then compare it to $WINK and $BLUB - mercenary KOLs, zero follow-through, gone the moment the incentive dried up.

This was never incentives vs. no incentives. It’s bad incentive design vs. good incentive design, and nobody at FDN has said a word about fixing the selection criteria that produced this outcome. In fact there has been no mention of any incentives going out again. What is being leaked out for a temperature check? Read on

the equity debate, actually explained

An Avalabs employee - several levels below c-suite, worth saying plainly - floated publicly this week whether Ava Labs needs its own equity vehicle instead of putting everything behind AVAX, the way AAVE chose to double down on its own token rather than spin up a separate wrapper.

The community’s collective response fit in one line: so we were focused on the equity all along?

My own first reaction was simple - focus on AVAX, make the token the thing that’s actually needed. The fact that anyone anywhere near labs is comfortable floating equity out loud in public is bearish on its own, regardless of intent.

The counter-argument - and it’s been made consistently for four years by an ex-AvaLabs emploid, so I’ll engage it seriously - goes like this: take a stock public that holds AVAX, give investors upside on the commercial side too, and bring new capital into the ecosystem. I pushed back on that directly. Current holders already absorbed the downside. We sat through the entire bear market, bought every narrative reset, and we’re still deep underwater. Being told the fix is to go buy a second ticker for upside we assumed the first one already covered isn’t alignment. It’s a new bag with extra steps.

The pitch adjusted from there - fold in the commercial side too, AvaCloud and the rest, so one vehicle captures both the token and the business. That’s a more sophisticated version of the same idea. It still doesn’t answer the question that actually matters: how does any of it get value back to AVAX, the token itself? Revenue flowing into an equity vehicle pays shareholders. It doesn’t pay token holders. We’d be tokenizing the world’s assets while the community that supplied the TVL, ran the validators, and stuck around through everything watches the upside from outside the fence - again.

AAVE didn’t build a side vehicle for any of this. They put the token at the center - buybacks, fee sharing, governance, all routed through one asset. That’s the model that already works, and it’s sitting right there for anyone to copy.

Put the value capture directly on AVAX - AvaCloud revenue, RWA yield, buybacks, whatever mechanism gets it done - and holders get the upside without needing to buy anything new. That’s the entire premise behind ACP-67 and the burn mechanism, and it’s been the point since before this week’s debate even started.

dat wont work, we already tried dat

The equity-wrapper idea isn’t new either. We’ve run this exact experiment twice already, in public, with real numbers attached.

AVAT, Avalanche Treasury Corp, went public to do precisely what’s being proposed now. The stock is down 93% in a month, and they filed a going-concern warning with the SEC.

AVX, AVAX One, same thesis, different wrapper. The CEO resigned last week under Nasdaq compliance pressure.

Avalabs and FDN have said nothing publicly about either one. Holding a token doesn’t create alignment by itself - the incentive structure has to actually deliver it, and a stock wrapper doesn’t fix that gap, it just relocates it. Tried twice, failed twice. Make AVAX the value layer directly and there’s nothing left that needs wrapping.

what actually needs to happen

A real fix for everything above is already sitting in a handful of proposals on the table right now.

ACP-273, 236, and 277 are good housekeeping - but 273 matters most near-term. Cut minimum stake duration from 2 weeks to 48 hours and ETF custodians can actually stake AVAX. That’s not housekeeping. That’s the only real near-term institutional catalyst this ecosystem has.

The burn mechanism - dynamic reward burning targeting 2% net inflation, an actively shrinking supply cap - is the EIP-1559 playbook, and it’s the real tokenomics story here, not equity.

ACP-67 - quote assets in USDC or USDT, yield recycled directly into AVAX buybacks and validator incentives, targeting $5B in stablecoin supply - is the mechanism that turns this week’s RWA and transaction growth into an AVAX story instead of a Circle story.

Stop funding mercenary capital with no follow-through. Reward the builders and the community members who never left. We stayed. Reward that. And when new people do come in, build something that keeps them here once the incentive period ends.

to the community..

I’m reading this week for what it actually was - not one person’s departure, but a warning about what this ecosystem does to the people who hold it up. Leaders don’t burn out because they stopped believing. They burn out because belief was the only fuel anyone ever gave them.

I’m down badly on this token against everything else I could have held instead. I’m not writing any of this from a position of comfort. But I’m still here, and the people who built this community alongside me are still here - some of them just building from a different spot for now.

This community isn’t the liability people keep treating it as. It’s the asset that keeps getting left off the balance sheet entirely.

Troops don’t stop waiting because the mission changed. They stop waiting when nobody shows up to lead it.

To FDN. Avalabs. The receipts are/were public, the proposals are already on the table, and the community told you exactly what it needs this week - in memes, in gallows humor, in one very honest apology tweet that nobody asked for.

My first avalore, yeaaa.. I was thinking about going over community stuff.. the hot emin trials, the hot emin launch.. encrypted.. makooor.. bla bla bla.. all the community projects, and how Team1 is the only thing in tune with the community.. but today i got pissed at how [redacted] we are.

so let’s talk about where we are right now..

Welcome to 2026, if you are an avalanche community member still.. hope is not great. that being said, there’s hope.. deep in the fabric, you don’t really see it because it is not well communicated.

You may be asking why is it badly communicated? well, we lost a lot of people in the last layoffs, and gained ex solana people. One already left.. after a few months of time wasting, and community baiting..

And, the others.. well.. they are deeply understaffed now. And, hiring takes a long time to do.. because if you think about it.. nobody from web2 can comprehend what we do here everyday.

Now, let’s talk about our hope list.. avalanche is technology built for businesses.. the infra hub of institutions.. the hyundai whisperer.. our great tokenomics redo.. and, the obvious winner.. the infrastructure of the world cup! *everyone claps euphorically*

all this could be an amazing narratives if we’d be able to tell the story well enough.. but alas we are stuck in an infinite loop of solana stealing every narrative.. news accounts hand picking parts of our press releases that makes us look dumb.. yeaa 7minutes.. and, also because these same businesses choose to launch their LPs on solana, and their infra on avalanche..

we hold the TVL, help them with licenses, legal.. ect, and they hold the revenue from these retail pools while these same things are gatekept behind our great L1 technology on our side.

truly amazing business practices..

First L1 to explicitly choose network adoption over token value capture. The network is winning. the token is subsidizing circle’s business model.

let’s go more into solutions..

people love solutions.. we’re solution maxxinnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.

If i were to be a multi billion dollar company.. I would focus more on story telling, making sure the narrative is clear without being hated and hero making the emploids..

the question remains.. where are our heroes? tbh, most left a while back.. our most recent, Luigi.. (we wish him well) but now.. there’s just nobody.. emin isnt active, nobody is active.. everyone is enjoying summer. wuuuu

maybe wolfi could be our hero.. or even our giraffes.. or hot emin?

Let’s talk about how easy it was to see that momentum would be coming in june.. and how nobody at avalabs was preparing for it.. when i started spamming hot emin, it was to make people understand that we can have fun with literally no token.. and that the local or real bottom was close.. and like last cycle.. people would migrate onchain.. sadly, solana got their shit together first with pumpfun, and they made ansem the hero

Ansem went straight where we got told by the marketing team we couldn’t during last sept/oct/nov.. RETURN TO MEMES.. and, this is how solana won the summer

UNTIL the next great corporate chain came out, ROBINHOOD L2.. stealing the show at the perfect moment.. then they got everyone who bid Ansem, and the solana memes to mass exodus to their chain.

Tbh, incredible mercenary strategy.. It’s like wink, and blub right after ket. now, people are even wondering why solana..? when you have the robinhood chain.. truly remarkable.

How will this arc end? who knows.. back to solana, back to robinhood, back to idk monad???? maybe to avalanche???? (uncertain)

for now, on avax we focus on business making.. hope you heard about makooor? great business, great metrics.. Thank you Team1 for helping fund the credits of the community..

ok, now more solutions.. at this point, i dont really expect the tokenomics to be made with a strong narrative anymore.. like matias said.. he is focusing on slow compounding.. which means, most of the time that we’re gonna take a long time before bouncing back.. like every pump last cycle.. avax was the last to pump everytime

tbh, i understand matias.. it is lonely at the top. Building in silence is hard.

But, do not worry.. It’s time for me to make my third ACP (not that it really changes anything since abalaba have all the validators)

It will be named ACP-67.. trying to get the younger demographic in our ecosystem, because we’re averaging 50 yo right now

It will be my greatest ACP to date.. It’ll focus on transforming the Avalanche tokenomics and economics into something people wouldnt expect.. a technology made for businesses. HUGE!!!

anyways, my ACPs dont really get far emploids.. you do not have to worry.. but they are popular.. the people love them, they are provocative.. on a chain where there’s nothing happening most of the time.. this is at least something.

I don’t really wanna say more than this.. because this is a crucial moment for avalanche, and if they dont take Q3 seriously.. they will fumble Q4.. and like last cycle.. they will hype us up forever for the next quarter

Q1 will be huge, Q2 will be insane.. but Q4 will be the biggest.. Ive heard this too many times.. now, I’m just gonna do what i do best.. have fun, maximize my llm psychosis into making business projects/experiments, X impressions and the trials..

can you believe I will soon be paid by X to scream on the TL.. truly an amazing business this platform is now.. (except for all the bugs ofc)

but yea.. if you look at all the communities rn.. the other chains do seem appealing tbh.. im not gonna lie.. I do understand why the nochillios are rebelling right now..

we just dont have anyone to assemble the community.. and like ive learned through conquest documentaries on youtube.. ecosystems/nations dont last if tribes dont align.. and we’ve had a couple tribal warfare throughout the months.. mainly the c-chain communities vs the marketing dept..

and I wouldnt be surprised if we keep going down that path.. or ppl all just start fading the c-chain as nobody gives one fuck about the c-chain internally..

it’s like a neglected baby that will turn to hate when it doesnt understand why it was abandoned.

I’ll just let Justin take it from here:

So yes, once again we were hammered over the head with the fact that Avax is for business. I covered this a lot in my crashout article four months ago (!) but let’s do our quarterly “Avax is for Business” rant! Hooray!

I will offer some constructive criticism to the Labs team to help them understand the main two reasons why this “story” is not landing with the community:

Problem 1. We have no reason to care about businesses

The issue is not that Avalanche wants to target businesses. The issue is that 99% of the people reading their tweets or reading this article do not identify as businesses. We do not care about businesses being onboarded, and see no reason why we should.

For example, it’s cool that the World Cup runs on Avalanche technology! But that has NO impact on the token or our ecosystem at all! Nobody is buying a World Cup ticket and somehow getting onboarded to Hot Emin Twitter.

The campaign is not meaningfully involving the token or community in any way. I’m sure it’s great for BD KPIs though!

AvaLabs Action Item 1: Go deep in the tank and figure out why average people should care about businesses using the chain. Maybe it’s a tokenomics change (doubtful), maybe it’s releasing more details about the partnerships (FIFA burning $X in AVAX to use the technology), anything really.

If we see why AVAX onboarding businesses is good for us, we’d be happy to support it. We have yet to see a reason to believe this is the case though, and surely if there was something they could share on this front they would have already.

Labs/Foundation NEED to figure out this problem or sentiment will never improve.

Problem 2: One-dimensional Messaging

Guys, we understand that Avax is for business!! We are coming up on 6 months of banging our heads against this particular wall.

As I said earlier, if you want to focus on businesses that’s fine, but you’ve gotta throw us some bones too!

Even people from outside the ecosystem are seeing this messaging and being like “hang on a minute, what about everything else?”

And yes, the emploids were quick to jump on this post from Bill, telling him he’s just misunderstanding.

“AVAX is not ONLY for business, it’s for regular people too!”

And that is the issue. We understand you’re not saying AVAX is only for business. Despite what Bill said above, we understand you’re not literally saying “if you’re not a business, AVAX is not for you.”

However, AVAX is strongly failing the show-don’t-tell test right now.

Action Item 2: Stop telling us, and SHOW us that AVAX is not only for business now. As I said in my analysis of the AVAX twitter account 2 months ago (this has been going on for SO LONG), the twitter account is like 90% business, 10% community. To be fair it has gotten better since then, but it’s still incredibly lopsided.

The hackathons they run are giving first prize to businesses that we can’t even interact with, again showing us where their priorities are.

They tease a special announcement, which is just telling us yet again that AVAX is for business.

The team needs to get together and organize some stuff that SHOWS us that Avalanche is not only Built for Business™ but is also built for community too. Move some of this slop to LinkedIn and maybe focus the Twitter messaging more on, I don’t know, Avax Twitter?? Stop yapping and start doing.

Ok, that’s the end of my quarterly business rant! After a quick look at my calendar, it seems like we’ll be due for another one of these on September 18. Maybe Meridian and Forg3t will have jumpstarted the AVAX ecosystem by then.

Giraffe is Doing Things

Shoutout to Giraffe for giving us some actual fun content to write about this week!

Congrats to Dimi for taking down the pot in the inaugural Avax Bingo season with a predictably pessimistic bingo:

Overall it was a fun experiment, and it gave us some enjoyment on the timeline. Can’t ask for much more than that!

The rewards seem pretty stacked as well. My cards were horrible, and I just barely lost money on the season. Well, just barely lost AVAX anyway. Price went down so I imagine lots of people lost money. 1 AVAX = 1 AVAX!

Giraffe has also announced that he is nearing release on his NFT collection, with the presale happening this week as well. Big week for Giraffe! I’ve sent my money in because I just want to feel something again. Also he teased some potential plushies for holders which would be sweet.

As a member of a split USA/England household I have been forced to learn about soccer this year. It’s been great to see both our teams doing well, although I still don’t understand why they won’t stop the clock between quarters.

Also I don’t understand why there is so much hype around this Ronaldo guy, he seems like the worst player on the team? Anyway, it looks like the USA has a good shot at winning this year despite soccer being a tier 2 sport here.

YourGrails Continues to Roll

Our guest writer Smudge touched on YourGrails last week but it’s still one of the top stories of the chain as volume continues to climb.

As he would say, I am a “Poke-person” although I am not a card collector. Personally I don’t have a ton of interest in these types of platforms—they seem like NFT lotteries with extra steps and we know how those turned out. I am sidelined in this Pokemon meta! I hope you guys get rich.

Bias aside, the site undeniably works well and scratches an itch for many people. I tried it out and everything seemed to work smoothly, I even lost a battle or two.

In these dark times where people are just looking for buttons to click, we could do a lot worse than a lottery with Pokemon as prizes. Shoutout the team for delivering a great product!

From what I can tell the site has spent a lot of time sold out (sorry, NOT sold out, they just ran out of inventory for packs. But NOT sold out) so that has to mean that it’s doing really well.

Hotemin Trials??

Nobs has leaked some more info on what is coming down the Hot Emin pipeline and people are getting excited! I don’t know what the timeline on this is but we must remain patient, fellow market participants.

It sounds like Nobs has learned a lot from the previous presale meta and this won’t be as straightforward a process. It’s been a year and a half since KET launched, so it makes sense that it’s time for a new meta. A trials meta?

It looks like there will be multiple (three?) ways to get involved, and they’ll all require something different of us. Some trials will benefit people with large social followings, some trials will benefit those with skill, and some trials will be for the common man (or woman).

Not a ton going on in AVAX-land these days, I’m beginning to lose some momentum on these. I had a whole “MegaETH Postmortem” section reflecting on where I think that went wrong, but I cut it because it didn’t seem interesting enough.

Maybe we will do another Lore history article soon? Maybe some Labs employees can say some inflammatory shit this week? Most of our previous offenders are no longer with the company unfortunately.

I have one more week before AVAX Bingo is done, so that seems like a good time to break until things pick up again.

Abbax x Pokemon

Never did I ever see myself reporting on anything Pokemon, but CG, Trading Aloha, and Polypup launched ‘YourGrails’ this week.

This is an app to where you can purchase provably random, certified Pokemon cards for $50 each.

Hands up, I am not a trading card guy and certainly not a Poke-person, I don’t wanna catch em all. So the prospect of handing over 50 bucks for a card seems pretty wild to me. However, there is clearly an appetite for this as they have already sold over 1000 ‘packs’ (single cards) as people gamble that they will reveal a card worth up to $24,500.

You can instantly redeem your drawn card for 90% of its value, which I think is a pretty good deal as you don’t have to handle the card or actually find someone willing to pay and make the sale.

There’s a battle mode which is also live, I’m not 100% certain of the mechanism, but it looks like you battle ‘Top Trumps’ style against an opponent and win or lose a bonus card. I’ll admit, I’ve played Top Trumps in my time and it is quite fun. Though I’ve never played one round for $500!

Soon you will be able to have your physical card shipped to you, use the marketplace and even take out loans against your cards!? I mean, people will lend against $ARENA, so stranger things do happen.

We’re back! Another week in the books. I hope you guys are all surviving out there, I just checked the price of AVAX and it is NOT looking good bros.

Stay strong! Hopefully by now you are not super exposed financially. Unless you’re a business, then I assume you’re very exposed and doing well! Maybe working on a partnership? Consider going to Summit to conduct business with other businesses!

I don’t know many people that hold AVAX anymore. For the rest of us, our exposure is more mental in nature. We’ve been here so long that we want to see the chain do well, regardless of if we are currently holding.

AVAX Account Tests Shitposting

It’s still only allowed to happen on the non-business days (weekends) for some reason, but the AVAX account continues its small foray into shitposting!

It’s now mostly just spamming things about AVAX Summit during the week, but at least we are making progress. I called this out last week but I will do so again in the hopes that we see more of it in the future!

Will we eventually see a post that has any relevance to us during the week? Is such a thing possible? Only time will tell!

Instead they’ve now moved the business-slop posting to the FDN account, tweeting out the same images that they used on the main account two months ago:

Kevin is Gone

It was a big week for frequent Avalore character, Kevin Ricoy, as he publicly announced he was suffering from PTSD and then shortly after followed it up with leaving Ava Labs. We call this the Killeen special.

Jokes aside, I feel bad and I hope they both are able to work through their problems. Therapy is great! Shoutout therapy! The negative stigma around going to therapy is so fucking stupid. If you need help, get it! You’re not a macho man because you ignore your problems! Real macho men confront and work on their issues! Ok end of rant, let’s continue.

I will miss Kevin! He provided a lot of good content for us over the years 4 months. He’s the only Head of Communications I know that had to frequently delete his own tweets. I can respect the lack of filter! He was also (sometimes) responsive to my DMs so I appreciate that.

AVAX is for Community Too!

It seems like there must have been some kind of internal meetings with the marketing team this week as we are beginning to see some community-first messaging from various Ava Labs accounts.

Even the main account was allowed to tweet some fun slop!!! Maybe they are listening to us after all. The community stuff was mostly on the weekend I guess (weekdays are for business), but it’s a start!

Congrats to Labs for figuring out that it’s good to occasionally post things that the people reading the posts might actually like. Revolutionary.

Arielle even tweeted about Summit again to make sure we know that Summit is for the community! It’s not just for suits, it’s for builders as well.

It’s giving some “Let them eat cake” vibes but it’s still progress!

Also I want to say that the Summit conference itself will probably be great for whoever they decide their target market is. The Labs event team is one of the strongest arms of the company. Go Vanya go!!!11!!!

Emin is Still Hot

Maybe I haven’t seen much news because my timeline is just completely flooded with hot Emin memes. Please stop tagging Me/Nobs/Excel/Tac in low effort slop though! If they are good we will see them anyway! Tagging just makes me like you less (unless it’s REALLY funny, then it’s allowed).

Also, I don’t know anything about the project—it’s Nobs and Excel’s thing. I just like posting memes. Amplify!

I won’t bore you with much preamble this week—my messaging has been fragmented in the past and I’m trying to give more clarity on what Avalore really is: a space for AVAX community news.

Solana / Avax Comparisons

I’ve touched on this many times here but it keeps coming up again and again. The institutionalization of crypto is not just limited to AVAX (more on that later) but is also taking place on other chains.

Solana, once known for being THE place for consumer crypto, has been frustrating its users by moving away from them and trying to be more “serious.” Sound familiar?

I’ve blanked out the chain because this could easily be about AVAX FDN, but it’s not! This is Solana!

What Kate meant by calling Solana the AVAX of this cycle is that they both once had a thriving onchain economy, but AVAX, as we know, died down quite a bit since its golden days.

Solana is looking to do the same as all its metrics are down dramatically as well. AVAX community members began to commiserate with Solana users about this, and then our favorite Director of External Communications was quick to step in.

He hit us with the tried and true “Solana is jumping off a bridge, so we should too” defense. Which honestly, fair play to him! Solana nailed the onchain narrative, maybe they will nail this one too!

Either way, if the proverbial puck is actually falling off the bridge, skating towards it does nothing for us average crypto users. As I’ve said many times, this might even be the right decision for the companies, but we (CT) lose here either way.

I wish both AVAX and Solana the best of luck in their endeavors to capture institutions! Hopefully doing so will mean positive things for the token price and onchain communities!

Blaze Community is Angry

It seems the Blaze community is up in arms over some kind of Blaze Prime program that was launched a few weeks ago. I won’t speak too much on this since honestly I have no idea what’s going on over there, but multiple people have told me that it was run poorly.

It sounds like they are massively diluting the ecosystem in the hopes of encouraging new people to join. Shocking!

I feel bad for people that are heavily invested, but this is the point of having a token guys! I thought we learned this with Salvor already—when a token is used exclusively as incentives for using the platform, it will go down over time. See: $ART, $BLAZE, $BLACK, $JOE, etc etc etc.

Don’t hold high emission tokens!

Meanwhile their monthly 50k expense transfer was up to 80k this month. Maybe they are using the extra money to buy back the token? I don’t have the energy to trace this, but maybe someone else does. Also please note that this is an incredibly expensive business to run—streaming infrastructure ain’t cheap!

All this to say, things are not looking great in Blaze world. They raised a ton of money, and the product undeniably works, but has yet to find the kind of adoption that could make the token worth holding. Hopefully that changes in the future! I streamed on Blaze last week—it was fun!

Cave Launch

Couple more tummy aches then up only!

In the latest Grotto scam, Snaps has finally launched the $CAVE token. For those who are unaware, $CAVE is the token of the only premier DEX on The Grotto blockchain. Yes I can make the same joke again, it’s still funny!

As of writing, it appears the token is slightly below presale price, which is not too bad. Now all we need are some tokens to trade on the chain so we can stake for DEX revenue!

Don’t worry, I’m sure our favorite grifter has something just for the occasion:

We buy Bob nfts, so we can buy more $CAVE, so we can stake it to get trading fees from when we buy the $BOB erc20 token. The Grotto flywheel!

AVAX is for Business

Arielle, SVP for AVAX growth (former Solana head of comms), finally gave us some clarity on AVAX’s future this week.

I know we were all confused by the messaging coming from the main socials—it was impossible to figure out exactly what AVAX’s narrative was.

Maybe AVAX is trying to target corporations? Or institutions? Or maybe the target market is actually companies? No, perhaps the AVAX narrative centers around enterprises?

It was hard to tell! But finally we have some clarity:

AVAX is for business!!!!1!!!

Well, I’m glad that’s sorted.

Her comments about Summit are a bit discouraging as well. I’ve been on the fence about going as I was worried it would just be a bunch of people in suits (and Wrathtank) shouting “business” at each other over and over again, and this kind of confirms that.

The only redeemable quality of these things is the side events, so to call those out specifically and say the focus should be on people “doing business together” is sort of signaling that people like me shouldn’t be there. I’m not trying to do business with anyone!

Maybe we can hold our own community Summit instead? A golf trip or something? We can even do it on the weekend!

Hot Emin Summer Continues

Let’s end on a positive note this week. The Hot Emin Summer Twitter account was created!

In just 3 days, the account managed to ratio the main AVAX account with a quote tweet! Pretty impressive. Surely this would qualify whoever is running it for a position at AvaLabs marketing.

Week 40! Wow! If you’re reading this right now, I bet you didn’t think we’d make it to 40 Avalore articles. I certainly didn’t think so! It’s been a bit dicey these last few months.

Thankfully Nobs has saved the chain again! You know what we’re talking about this week, so let’s just get into it.

Hot Emin Summer Origin

Yes, we will of course get to more pictures of hot Emin later, but if you want to understand the movement you must first understand how it began.

It all started with a seemingly innocent post from Nobs, pictured above.

HOWEVER, our glorious leader Emin did not think that post was so innocent at all! In fact, after seeing the post at 2am on May 12, 2026 (the Hot Emin Summer Solstice), Emin took major offense to his own objectification.

In a fit of rage, Emin blocked Nobs on Twitter and removed him from group chats. He could no longer stand to interact with such a superficial individual.

This escalated the situation, and Nobs retaliated the only way he knows how—flooding the timeline with images of hot Emin.

And thus, the legend of $HOTEMIN was born!

Community Buyin

With the ticker announced and the gauntlet thrown down, the AVAX community did what it does best—rallied around memes.

Emin’s chest was EVERYWHERE. There was no escaping him or his massive biceps. It was impossible to scroll Twitter without a half naked Emin popping up in every post.

I think this is a good example of why people hate to see focus shift away from the community on AVAX. They just don’t make communities like this anymore. This type of viral explosion does not happen in such a coordinated manner on other chains—it really is something special we have here.

Labs Buyin

What’s this??? Labs supporting a community initiative??? Wow!!! Whoever runs Emin’s account managed to change his PFP to the original Hot Emin image for a few hours (I assume he changed it back when he woke up). Progress!

We even had the C-Suite posting about it! Really nice to see everyone aligned and having a good time. This is the kind of thing the chain has been missing.

The emploids were quick to champion this as a huge win for the chain. This is proof that a chain can be for both business AND community!

HotEmin IS business! This has been their plan all along! Despite the heavy institutional narrative coming from the main Twitter account, the AVAX community has been allowed to blossom in the environment that Labs has created for us.

The Nose Strip is Pulled Off

We got some late breaking news this week! Avery has stepped down from Ava Labs! You may know him as the one previously running the AVAX Twitter account.

I will admit, I used to not be a big Avery fan. I found the institutional content he was pushing to be very uninspiring and blamed him for that. After talking with him one-on-one though, I really think he’s a smart guy and a lot of the blame I placed on him should have been placed on those above him.

You might remember that study of the AVAX main account I posted a few weeks back where I found the account to be much less relevant to us than other chains’ main accounts.

HOWEVER, I’m guessing that was published right around the time that Avery left, and the account has gotten much, much worse since then.

I believe Avery was one of the good guys, and it’s sad to see him go. We can only hope that the daily 9am “Avax is for business” posts are a sign of a time in transition, and that we will eventually get more relevant content moving forward.

We’re back! Another busy IRL week for me as we’re trying to setup a move to a new apartment, so apologies in advance if I miss some news this week. Give a man a break every once in a while!

Honestly I’ve still been spending most of my time on MegaETH lately. There are a few new ponzis there that the GC seems to be making money on (something about laundering money?) but I really haven’t had time for much.

If you like card games (Hearthstone, MTG, Balatro, etc) I highly recommend this game Showdown (ref code 6129, shameless plug). It’s like 1v1 poker but with action cards that effect the board—you can also wager USD on every match. VQ and I will be sponsoring a $500 tournament in the next few weeks, so look out for that. Hooray for web3 games that are fun!

You sure as hell can’t get that from the AVAX twitter account—I had to mute it this week as I was getting too triggered by the twice daily posts about how Avalanche is built for business (I’m not a business)—so I shall try and deliver some news.

Salmon Swimming Upstream

Build Games Bear’s Den grant recipient, River Run Game, had their mint this week! I was actually on a road trip and missed the ENTIRE mint because the whole thing sold out!

This is very exciting news for AVAX as it’s been a while since we’ve had anything at all sellout. 500 pieces at 5a each is not too bad—a solid $25k raise for the team. Nothing like the bull market, but that’s a decent chunk.

Coupled with a Team1 mini-grant (dual funding???) it’s nice to see incentives for building community projects. Shoutout Team1 for yet again being the community’s glimmer of hope in this increasingly corporate world.

I don’t know when the game is actually supposed to start—remember, it’s going to be similar to Crabada—but hopefully if this can do well it will spark a new age of ponzis/experimentation on AVAX.

Will HashCash and River Run bring back our glory days? Who knows!

Japan Tokenizing Bonds on AVAX??

An announcement came out that the Japanese government would be tokenizing their bonds on the blockchain, and of course every Avalabs employee was quick to retweet about how it would be happening on AVAX.

The usual brigade of people shouting “why don’t the accounts ever mention AVAX specifically” began to raise their pitchforks, with seemingly good reason. Why not announce that this is happening on AVAX?? That should be big news, right??

Well, as some people who actually read the announcement were quick to point out—this is not actually happening yet. Basically, the announcement was actually about forming a research group to discuss the possibility of tokenizing government bonds on blockchain.

AVAX is one of three blockchain representatives on the joint committee. I don’t really know what Canton is but they seem to always be doing the same things we’re doing.

So yeah, I guess we should be tempering our expectations a little here. Sure this is kind of cool, and Progmat is already working with AVAX so it might even be likely to happen, but it’s a far cry away from actually announcing that the bonds will be live on AVAX. The group’s goal is to have a working prototype in 2026, so maybe that announcement will be more bullish and talk about AVAX specifically!

Even if this was a real announcement, GrottoJ has a good point here. Sorry I quoted him twice! His were just the tweets I saw!

It’s hard to get the community riled up for these announcements when they seem to be mostly nothingburgers and people feel neglected in other ways. I’m not gonna go into why that is for the 9000th time, but I will end with this tweet from Blue here for absolutely no reason:

There’s Money in the Cave

The latest Snaps presale just finished its raise! And wow, it’s kind of a big number!

I don’t remember what his Early or Chatnet tokens raised but I don’t think it was this much. The only premier DEX on Gr*tto chain commands a high valuation! Imagine how much the next Snaps presale will raise!

I don’t think the token will launch for a while as he irons out exactly how it will go down, but I’m really curious to see how this one ends up. Will this be the community token that finally gets crimed back up a bit? Will it be another presale dumpfest?

I don’t know what will happen, but thanks to the team at The Gr**to for giving us things to gamble on again. Talk about a gross chain product!

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for this week. Bit of a slow one and I’ve been a bit AFK a bunch lately. Soon we should have more info on Cave and River Run though so we have that to look forward to!

Kidding (sort of). Honestly I was going into this week expecting this to be the last edition of Avalore. I had a whole thing prepped about AVAX book club and how this would be a reading journal from now on.

Then I made a shitpost about an NFT collection on MegaETH, and everyone on AVAX either joined in or ridiculed me for “leaving.” So now we have something to talk about! Hooray!

All we needed to do was check out another chain. Let’s discuss.

Leaving???

First let’s discuss this idea of “leaving” one chain for another. There’s a stigma about this and it’s ridiculous.

You should never be a chain maxi. We’re in crypto to have fun and to make money. If you limit yourself to one chain, what happens when the fun and money dries up there?

Over the last few years we’ve been pretty spoiled. AVAX has had its ups and downs, but in the end it was usually a place with opportunities and a vibrant community. Sure there are plenty of things happening on other chains as well, but we really haven’t needed to leave the chain to find opportunities.

This is no longer the case! And that’s not an opinion, it’s not “theatrics” as Nahas would say, this is just a fact. You may have seen my article last week observing the timelines of different projects, but let me just show you what the AVAX account has tweeted since then:

Wow!!! The reality is, if you are reading this article, you are not AVAX’s target audience anymore. I don’t know how much clearer they can make this.

The winner of Build Games, a competition designed to bring more builders to the chain, was literally a project you can’t even use. Do they need to slap you in the face with this?? AVAX is not for us anymore. I’m sorry, but it’s just true.

Imagine you’re a big Nike stan. You only wear Nike shoes, when they get worn out you replace them with more Nikes.

Then one day, Nike announces it will stop production of all its current shoes and only make shoes for dogs. Would you try to squeeze your feet into shoes designed for a German Shephard? Probably not! Probably you’d start trying other brands!

Maybe if Nike decides this new direction is not profitable, it will start making shoes for humans again and we can go back to them. But for now, let’s test out some other brands!

I received a bunch of these DMs the other day. People are having fun trying new things. And you don’t need to buy anything! Don’t just top blast the NFT, all you need to do is start following and replying to people on Twitter!

I remember a while back I saw AvaxJ tweeting about some coins on Base. I kinda just scrolled past it, thinking “oh that’s Base, that’s not for me.” All you need to do is stop doing that! That’s progress!

Why MegaETH?

The above tweet sums up my feels about this. If we’re trying to branch out from AVAX while it becomes a corpo-chain, we might as well pick somewhere that is at least trying to target the average CT person. Right now, that means MegaETH.

Their marketing is all geared towards crypto-natives, their launch campaign is for actual usage of real consumer products, and the team seems to have a community-first mindset.

Tac, VQ, and I have a groupchat with members of the Mega team and have been blown away by how receptive they are to feedback and how openly they communicate.

I’m not saying the chain will do well—I have no idea really. There are definitely things I don’t like about it.

The name is dumb and it’s an L2 which I usually avoid. The token is not used for gas, the ecosystem is still incredibly young, and there are not many polished apps. Ferdy is probably the best app on the chain right now (no bias).

We might be back here in 3 months going “LOL remember the MegaETH arc??”

So don’t be a chain maxi again! Maybe it works out for us maybe it doesn’t, but the important thing is that we break the seal. It’s time to start trying other chains, so let’s start with one that’s prioritizing people like us.

If it flops then we try on other shoes until Nike starts making shoes for humans again. And by that time maybe we will have some other brands that we like in the rotation as well.

Ok that’s all I’ve got for this week! This is the first time I’ve actually enjoyed writing one of these articles in a long time.

I’ve been sad for a bit as it became clear that AVAX was steering away from the things that we like. This week I finally realized that it doesn’t matter! The community (the problem) that we all know and love will still be around even as we try out other chains.

I see the same faces on the timeline tweeting about people moving to MegaETH, making memes, supporting each other—it’s all still the same. Justin makes fun of us whether we stay on AVAX or we leave.

Even after we all take the red triangles out of our twitter names, we’re still the same community.

Hello again! I know what you’re thinking, “Smitty, I thought you said you were taking a break from Avalore, wtf is this??”

I said I MIGHT take a break. There are actually a few topics I’ve been meaning to write about for a while but haven’t had the chance.

As you probably realized, there’s not much news right now in the community sphere of the ecosystem, so it’s time to spin through some of my filler topics!

The first thing on my list was to do a review of the Twitter timelines of different crypto chains. Fun!

The AVAX Twitter account has been the subject of many discussions in the community, so I wanted to take some time and actually compare it to the accounts of some other projects. Let’s do it!

The Method

Wow!!!! Numbers!!!

Don’t worry your pretty little head about it, I’ll try to shield you guys from as many numbers as possible and distill the results down for you.

My process was pretty simple:

• Read through the last 100 posts on the project timeline (including RTs)

• Assess on a 0-1 scale if the post could be relevant to community like me

That’s it!

For the American Football enjoyers (yes I married a Brit so I have to call it “American” now, very annoying), it’s kind of similar to PFF and has some of the same flaws. Relevancy is obviously a subjective metric for example.

I was trying to be as loose with the relevancy rating as possible. Any tweet that could possibly be seen as relevant to a chunk of people on CT would earn a 1.

Just so we’re on the same page, here are some of the more borderline tweets that got marked as relevant:

Maybe someone is excited to use this new USDS token in DeFi! Personally I’m ride or die with USDC but you never know!

Maybe one of you is hyped to finally be able to trade $NUTP on chain!

So yeah, just stressing again how liberal I was with “relevant.” If it seemed like it could directly be about someone’s onchain experience, it’s relevant.

I also included any post about a meetup, conference, or hackathon as relevant. Maybe people are excited for those! Any sort of generic fluff or meme post was marked as relevant as well.

And of course, here are some examples of posts that were marked NOT relevant:

It would be fun to do this again with more stress on tweets that I personally find relevant, but then the metric just gets even more subjective, and there’s almost no chance I’m willing to read through the AVAX timeline again (foreshadowing).

Ok let’s look at the numbers!

The Numbers

Wow! An honest to goodness chart! Who saw that coming??

I got tired of this after doing it for 4 different chains, but I made it through the only 4 chains I’ve used this year so that seems pretty fair to me. Here are the actual numbers for the true nerds out there—the rest of you can shield your eyes and skip over the next image:

The elephant in the room is of course the AVAX account. You probably saw this coming if you’ve been following the chain and seen how business-focused it has been recently. Even the 38% relevancy here was carried HARD by RTs of different local Team1 chapter meetups.

Personally I have never really understood the reluctance to make the AVAX Twitter account targeted more towards Crypto Twitter, but over time I have been worn down to believe that all project accounts are run as LinkedIn pages. Turns out they are not!

It also flies in the face of the recent gaslighting campaign of “we can do both institutions and community, stop the theatrics!”

Yes, it’s possible they can do both, but clearly there is a large imbalance right now. I think it’s fair to say that a project’s Twitter account is a microcosm of the project, so that’s where we’re at right now.

The Others

Ok but that’s enough about AVAX! We are exploring multichain now! Let’s talk about some things that stood out about the other accounts.

They were all posting 75-85% of their tweets about things that are relevant to CT. They spend a lot of time highlighting real onchain experiences and the projects that provide them. This makes sense to me, but likely the AVAX team is making a conscious effort to move away from messaging targeted at crypto natives. Growing the pie!

One thing that stood out to me was that MegaETH RT’d a lot less than the other accounts. I actually like this, as it makes that account the only one I would ever consider turning notifications on for. They post much less frequently, but they have more substance and/or relevance.

Maybe it’s not a fair comparison because the MegaETH ecosystem is much younger and smaller than the others, so they have less of an opportunity to RT and obviously more of a focus on CT natives as they try to acquire users.

Base is not a small ecosystem though, and they still managed to have very high relevancy tweets—their RTs were mostly of projects that CT would be interested in. Seems good!

I think my final subjective ranking for these Twitters would be:

Mega → Base → → → Sol → → → → → → → → → AVAX

But who cares what I think! I am not a marketer! Just talking about how much they appeal to me. As we’ve discussed many times, likely the AVAX Twitter account is not intended to appeal to me.

Back again! It’s been a stressful week in Smittyland as we tried (and eventually succeeded) to acquire car insurance in the US for someone with an international drivers license. Bear Markets Reveal All

What a tweet from Avery, AVAX’s chief emploid. I want to start off by saying that maybe there is a world where this was an innocent fluff tweet about building through the bear. That’s something many people will post about, and is not necessarily targeted or negative.

HOWEVER

Tweeting this after you’ve just finished an incentives program that people are unhappy with, at a time when the community is slowly but surely losing hope, is pretty horrible taste and will obviously lead people to take offense.

Oh, there’s also the fact that after receiving backlash he just doubled down on it:

I can’t really write about this stuff anymore guys, it’s too draining. Pretty much the entire community raged back against tweet, and for good reason. I don’t have a meaningful perspective to add here—it’s just another coin in the “community is the problem” piggy bank.

I feel bad if it wasn’t intended this way, but also maybe think about what you’re posting and don’t double down on it when it seems like it was misinterpreted??

Sometimes it feels like they are intentionally trying to cycle the community away so they can get a new one. Or none at all? I don’t really understand what the endgame is here.

Any other week this would probably be a massive section about why people received this poorly and what it could mean about what’s happening behind the scenes, but I don’t have the energy! Same story different week! We move on.

Return of the King??

Is it time for Nobs and Excel to bring back PointsMarket? Despite Grok mentioning me as part of the team, I don’t really have any insider information for you here.

The PointsMarket era was one of the most active AVAX CT has ever had, and most people remember it fondly. At this point it has taken on an almost mythical glow in people’s memories, and bringing it back would be no easy task.

The current issue with building things on AVAX is that there is just very little reward. The community is so small and hesitant right now, so the upside is extremely capped. Especially for something like PointsMarket, which was never monetized to begin with.

If we use Giraffe’s Avax Bingo as an example, he put a ton of time into that project but the team only made 180 AVAX, which at current prices would be around $1700. This is a high quality project that the entire community was excited for, and even with a 20% rake he was not able to take home more than $2k to split between him and the dev.

It’s tough to commit to building something like PointsMarket in this environment. We can take Chris and XRPant’s project HashCash as an example here too. It swept the timeline and had everyone involved. Even after all their hard work, with everyone participating, the coin peaked around $300k MCap and they will be responsible for it FOREVER.

They are more noble than most, doing it “for the love of the game,” but it’s not reasonable to expect people to take such lopsided risk/reward. Will Nobs and Excel slave over this for basically no reward just for the sake of vibes? We shall see.

I think this is the core of why people were unhappy with the results of Build Games. It seemed like it could have been a program to spark lots of cool projects on chain (ponzis even!), beefing up the “reward” side of building and giving people more freedom to experiment.

There was a point in the process where I was drinking the Kool Aid and thought that when it was over we would even have TOO MUCH to do on chain! 10 ponzis releasing on the same day! Ha!

As it stands, I think the only cool new thing we got out of it was Avax Bingo, and even that had already been helped into profitability by Bears and Salmon’s hackathon.

The rest of the projects that received funding either already existed, or aren’t relevant to most of us. I don’t want to disparage funding good projects that already exist, I just think it was a big missed opportunity on that front.

Shoutout Avax Team1 again here as for the past 6 months the only reward for building anything has been a $5k micro grant from Chimba. It’s a great program, but there’s only so much good will you can build with that.

What is an Ecosystem?

As I’ve said before, I don’t have a ton of energy left for this stuff, but I wanted to briefly follow up on last week’s article as some Labs emploids responded to my section about the ecosystem call being mostly corposlop.

They had various different messages but were all to the tune of this was BD talking to the broader ecosystem or this was explicitly not a community call.

I actually started to think that maybe I was wrong to assume an "Ecosystem Update” would have any relevance to me or the community. Am I the crazy one here??

No! I’m not! This is what a “Head of Ecosystem” does on other chains. Can you picture having an ecosystem call on AVAX where they were discussing how to reward communities in 2026? Hard to imagine.

Can you picture a founder who is in the trenches, responding and posting about memes with the community? Hard to imagine. (To be fair, Emin did this with $JUNIOR and it was awful. Not everything is black and white!)

The fact that I need to waste time trying to define what I mean by “community” and “ecosystem” is a great microcosm of the problems we have today.

I know you’re tired (I am too!) so you don’t have to read that whole post, but suffice it to say this is the 9000th time a Labs employee has asked us to explain “fun” or made some kind of reductive argument about how the community only wants them to buy our bags.

I don’t really blame them though, they exist in a different world than we do so it’s hard to converse on equal footing. They are in the BD trenches, not the onchain trenches, and that’s the lens they view the ecosystem through.

He’s right, the article would be boring without the “constant dramatics.” There would be nothing to write about! I’d just be writing about MyPrize’s new transaction counts every week! Awesome!

It’s even gotten to the point where people from other chains have reached out to me to try to open lines of communication as they see what’s happening here! I’m trying to focus on not being a maxi for one specific chain.

There’s often a gaslighting sentiment that gets pushed along the lines of “AVAX community is always fighting, it’s a bad look for the outsiders.” It was nice to receive some messages from outside our ecosystem from people explaining that they hear what the AVAX community is saying and think it can be better elsewhere.

It’s weird to feel negative even as price is going up—looks like we may even hit a $10 Bingo square today—but this is proof that community sentiment is not about price.

It has never been about price! It’s about feeling supported!! No, I will not explain what that means!!! That’s your job!!!! You can figure it out, I believe in you!!!1!!!!!

Sorry to Bingo enjoyers as I may need a break from Avalore next week. Getting too tilted writing the same stuff a million different times. Article quality is suffering, and I’ve been really busy IRL anyway. Maybe it’s better to let things blow over and come back when (if) morale improves.

Hello my fellow birds! Hope you’ve had a great week of flocking together.

I will be blunt with you guys, I’ve been losing some motivation over the last few weeks here. It’s becoming harder and harder to work up the energy to write these articles as AVAX focus continues to shift away from the things I like.

It’s a shame, because I think behind ETH and SOL, AVAX probably has the next strongest community. It would be cool to see it given the tools to really thrive like it has in the past.

But alas! Giraffe added a Bingo square for me not missing a week of these things, so the show must go on. At least until the end of the quarter! Let’s do the news.

Dom Posts Very Avalabs Tweets

I know this will probably be controversial, but I like Dom! Yes, he got Deep Water Studios some grants back in the day, so I am incredibly biased, but that’s life!

He onboarded some absolute STINKERS, but at least he got some money in the community’s hands and was in the trenches. Back in his time, there was real money being spent on the ecosystem. Now we have…well, we don’t have much.

Anyway, I do NOT like some tweets of his this week, and they perfectly encapsulate the direction Ava Labs is going and why I’m losing motivation so I will include them here.

The above tweet is basically highlighting Labs’ continued focus on KPImaxxing at the expense of funmaxxing. Good! I hate “cool” and “neat” things too! Much prefer sustainable businesses hitting high transaction and user counts!

Then he went on to talk about how the Foundation is basically a VC and is trying to fund apps that will provide returns. This also is a common theme and something we’ve seen play out with Build Games.

It’s just frustrating to keep reading stuff like this. The Foundation’s job should be to try to convince people to come spend time on AVAX, and things that do this will not always be profitable and backed up by a bullet-proof business model.

Some random ponzi could drive much more activity to the chain than a well-thought out RWA business that people don’t want, despite having basically no business plan.

AHHHH I feel like I’m writing the same thing every week! Let’s pause for some positivity, I need a break.

Build Games Postmortem Postmortem

In an attempt to cheer myself (and maybe you?) up, I wanted to highlight some community projects that announced Build Games grants after I finished my last article.

I know the article was pretty negative, and it’s hard to mask my emotions when writing. Yes, of course I was salty that none of the three projects I was helping with got funding. But I don’t want to let that cloud my judgement, so here I’d like to give flowers to some projects that DID get funding that I actually use! Hooray for funding real projects!

I will skip The Grotto because everyone knows that one already and Wrath was on the cover last week so he’s gotten enough screentime.

We Keep Winning

We Keep Winning is a sports betting vault project from Average Andy. Basically, all you have to do is deposit USDC and let his trading algorithms do the work for you. Normally I’m incredibly skeptical of trading bots, but he has been grinding on this for a long time and has been working to find the inefficiencies in the sports betting market.

This is much different than algorithmically trading tradfi/large cap markets as there really are inefficiencies to capture here. So far his vault has given me ~10% return over the last month! Very solid!

Obviously profit is not guaranteed and you should be careful with what you risk, but win or lose it is fun to check what bets the bot is making and have something to root for while watching. Nice work, Andy!

AVAX Bingo

Avax Bingo from Giraffe is currently holding the position of “only thing to do on AVAX” right now. And for good reason!

It’s been really fun to watch the timeline as new squares come into play. Will Snaps be kicked from The Grotto team after posting some anti-Christian tweets on Easter? Will Vanya continue posting selfies at record pace?

It was cool to see everyone commenting “BINGO” when we got inversebrah’d this week, and we even ticked off the “partner with a Fortune 500 company” square! Yay for business!

It’s one of the few fun things we’ve had in a while, so thanks to Giraffe and Polypup for the good execution here.

Kardpay

Bit of a wildcard here, but I saw the Kardpay team got funding as well!

I don’t have a ton to say on this one as I haven’t used the project much, but I did test it and was able to easily get a virtual card, load it with AVAX, and use it to pay for things. A real working product!

The customer support has been great and they’ve answered my DMs promptly, as well as taken on some feedback. Seems like a solid team and a usable product. If you’re in the market for a crypto card, they’ve got you covered.

AVAX Ecosystem Call

Just going to cover this as some of you might have wondered what this call was about. Have no fear! I sat through the whole thing so you don’t have to!

If you’re reading this article and someone asked you to describe what’s going on in the AVAX ecosystem, how would you respond?

You might talk about how people mostly trade tokens on Pharaoh and NFTs on Salvor. You’d mention the recent AVAX Bingo mint and how people are talking about that. You’d highlight some Build Games projects that you use. Maybe you’d even mention that you get your news from Avalore! Shameless plug!

The call was not about any of that, unfortunately. It really just highlighted the differences between what we consider the “ecosystem” and how Ava Labs views it.

At the end of the day, this institutional ecosystem is the one that Labs is focusing on capturing. That is fair—I do think AVAX is positioned well for this. But that’s not our ecosystem, and I’m not really sure what it means for people like us. So far it hasn’t meant much.

The ecosystem call mostly focused on efforts to bring various TradFi concepts and loyalty programs to AVAX, so it really had no relevance to us. It felt like listening to a shareholders meeting for a B2B company, which I guess is what it was.

It wasn’t until 59 minutes had passed (it was an hour long call) that someone asked about how all this stuff will benefit the chain.

The Labs emploid who was speaking at the time (Nahas? Can’t remember) talked about how if we bring enough businesses here, eventually crypto native builders will want to be here too and it will spark lots of new development. They mentioned that these new founders would become the AVAX “KOLs” of the future.

So I guess the thought is that if we onboard enough sports teams loyalty programs and tokenized credit applications, crypto natives will be excited to build here and share the good word of the AVAX gospel? Maybe.

Surface Level Takes

Not much to say on this one! I guess we’ll just stay hyped for the things that are being built in the background that have yet to be priced in. The market is wrong!

Also Stupifff is not really understanding what an “ecosystem participant” is, as we talked about above. Do you think the Cavs care about AVAX price? Their loyalty program works the same with AVAX at $2 vs $9. Can Meridian still tokenize institutional credit with $3 AVAX? Probably!

Osmo brought up the age old $30M to Coinbase meme again this week, highlighting the price action. We will probably never get transparency into operational expenses, and maybe that’s too much to ask for, but it’s just another thing to add on to the pile.

Yes, these are definitely not all sells, but some of them are. It’s a stark contrast from EthereumFDN, which just this week announced sells of their own. Obviously there are downsides to announcing you’re going to sell vs just hiding it, but at this point Labs/FDN (SEPERATE ENTITIES) have used up most of their good will, and people just assume all transfers are sells. Transparency can’t be worse than that, right? Maybe some kind of retrospective?

That’s all for this week! It’s a bit grim I’m not gonna lie to you, but I’m trying to reflect emotions I’m feeling and seeing on the timeline as well. Maybe I’m overreacting? Do you guys feel this way too?

I most definitely have been an AVAX community member for the last 4 years, but I’m trying to force myself to be more multichain. It’s easy to stick with what you know (the flock), but crypto is so small right now that it’s crazy to put all your eggs in one basket—especially when you are not that basket’s target audience anymore.

Solana recently released a developer bootcamp video, so that’s something I’m going to look into this week as I’ve always been too scared to veer away from EVM. MegaETH will be ramping into some kind of incentives program soon. Even though that chain seems pretty dead right now, that could be worth investigating as well.

I realize there’s a ton of “grass is greener” syndrome here, and most chains are having similar issues, but I think it’s worth giving other places a try.

Tweet of the Week

Hello hello! What a week we’ve had! Build Games had quite an eventful finish as the top 3 winners were revealed shortly before my April Fools Avalore Edition. Yes that was a joke about funding. For those who were unaware:

1. I would never sell out that hard!

2. The community seems to like this article so it would never get funding! (joking! kinda!)

I know I can be a bit inflammatory and crashout on the timeline to farm engagement, but I will try to keep things constructive in here. Maybe we can start a healthy dialogue!

Anyway, let’s dive in. THE Build Games article!

The Good

Let’s start out with some positives because it will get critical later. One undeniable success of the program is that it got people building. People with no experience developing or running projects threw their hats into the ring and went heads-down on some cool shit.

I saw some first-time game devs, some online claw machines, and cool ponzi apps. This is great! That was definitely one of the goals of the program, so on that level we have some positive.

Ok I will probably rip into them and go into more detail about this later, but I just want to say that I think a lot of the good parts of Build Games were probably brought about by Voh and Avery. At the end of the day, I do still believe they are trying to reward community members, and any grant that goes to a recognizable name was probably pushed by them.

I understand why people are frustrated, and believe me I am incredibly frustrated too, but I think the public-facing employees are not really the issue. The source of the problem is that they are two of maybe 5 employees at Labs that care about the average chain users. For everyone else, we are an afterthought.

You can see it all the time in the posts the emploids will make that all have some variation of “We really want to make this the chain for business, and then of course the users will benefit as well.”

I think some of the rage directed towards these public Labs members is warranted, but honestly a lot of it is not. As horrible as it sounds, I do agree that we’re better off with them here. Ok but that’s enough positives! Let’s get to the negatives! We will start small and ramp up.

The Bad

As someone who was in the competition, it was horrible that you didn’t find out if you passed the last stage until 3-5 days before the next stage was due.

By my count, there were 19 days spent in “limbo” waiting to see if you moved on to the next round, while only 16 days of actually prepping for the round. That’s insane! More time in Build Games was spent waiting to be judged than actually working!

You can make all kinds of excuses here, from “you should be wanting to build regardless” to “it’s hard to judge a lot of applicants” but that’s just covering up the unprofessionalism.

Expecting people to be grinding hard on something even if they were eliminated in the last round shows a complete lack of respect for their time. And “it was hard to get through everyone” is a bullshit excuse too. You were optimizing for signups, and then once you got too many of them you had no plan to deal with them in a reasonable time frame? Not great!

The Ugly

Ok buckle up! We’re in the weeds now!

The absolute #1 issue with Build Games and the cause of all the problems is that it was clearly pulled in too many different ways by too many people, and there seemed to be no alignment whatsoever on the goals of the competition.

Even from the beginning, the question was asked, “What kinds of projects should be in Build Games?” And the answer was always, “Everyone!” Ponzis, one man teams, new projects, old projects, large businesses, DeFi, institutional, everyone was eligible. This lack of focus was probably representative of different team members wanting different things.

For example, I have a strong memory of listening to Voh on a space right after Build Games was announced saying something like “Oh yeah, I love a good ponzi we will for sure be looking for those.”

Then, after reassuring and pushing Kieks to submit a ponzi for the competition, I ask about ponzi flywheels in the telegram and get the above message laughing at me from one of the admins.

The reality is that there was never much space for ponzis in Build Games, and as a result I have a ton of egg on my face now for trying to convince people that there was.

Maybe they shouldn’t have publicly bent over backwards to say this hackathon is different than the others and more community focused, then make the winner a project that the community is not even eligible to use? I mean it’s not rocket science.

This notion of bringing in businesses that bring in users was a common theme from the public-facing members of Ava Labs, but was completely turned on its head when most of the winners are products that 99% of the people on chain won’t be using.

And they didn’t even really try to hide this! In the very post they made asking people to support the projects on socials, they didn’t even tag the projects twitters!! Then when asked why not, they said they didn’t want people to harass the projects???

Avery likened AVAX to a city, saying they were going to bring businesses to revitalize the downtown area and get traffic flowing again. Then what they’ve done is bring in some 9-5 office spaces while scaring away all the bars and restaurants.

That’s a bit of a hyperbole, as there are some predictionslop and TCG products in there, but those are kind of a dime a dozen these days and it’s hard for them to really standout.

Overall, it feels like there were two teams of people communicating about Build Games with completely different goals.

Nothing highlights this dichotomy more than my personal experience with getting a grant from Build Games.

On April 1st, I got this message from someone at AvaLabs about getting a grant for Build Games. Exciting!

About 10 minutes later, I was added to a group chat with Labs people to discuss the grant.

10 minutes after THAT, I received a Twitter DM from someone else at AvaLabs telling me “Sorry, after due diligence your project was flagged by the larger review team as ineligible for a grant.”

????

Honestly I thought it must be an April Fools joke, but no, this is really the flow that happened! I was a grant recipient for all of 20 minutes.

This is the core of the issue. My Build Games project was a small utility add to Avalore (will launch next month), and some Labs employees probably just wanted to use this opportunity to get Avalore in general some funding. Cool!

However, as mentioned above, not many people at Labs actually care about this kind of thing, so likely it was shot down by someone else after review.

I’m upset with how they handled it as that’s clearly a VERY unserious chain of events, but I can’t be mad at them for trying.

In the end, the main mistake was believing this would be something other than just Codebase-lite (it wasn’t). They should have continued to shovel funding to AI unlearning software and institutional credit infrastructure behind the scenes like they always do. Editor’s note: Hilarious that I tried to pick the most ridiculous projects for my April Fools article and one of them got second place!

So What Now?

I think the summary is that this Build Games program played out mostly how everyone thought it would. Wrath outperformed expectations a bit, but it was easy to predict that they would try to lift him up and show that this competition was different.

And in the end maybe it was! More community people got funding than usual for a Codebase-style program. Maybe 10% of the money is going to community goods vs 0%. Improvement!

I do feel a bit demoralized. I was willing to drink the Koolaid about how this time would be different, but now I just look stupid for fighting fud from my friends as the winner is a project we can’t even use.

By the way, there’s too much hate going to the winning project—the second place one makes just as little sense, if not even less. And ESPECIALLY the third place project!

Not all grants are finalized yet (LOL, see above) so maybe my experience is the exception not the norm and we will find out more community projects got funded than it seems. Possibly even more community grants will come out in the next few days and the narrative will switch. Awesome!

For now, I think public facing employees will probably get more hate than they deserve for this outcome from the community. However, the fact remains that they tried their best to make it community-inclusive and this is the result we got. It does not give me much hope for the future for Avalore readers on this chain.

Everyone is making sure we know that Voh is basically the only one in our corner. Pretty dire. I don’t agree with her tone a lot of the time (don’t want to gas her up too much!) or the attempts to police what people tweet, but the fact remains that this is really all we’ve got.

What Can Happen

I want to end with this tweet from willdev to show the strength of supporting the community.

It’s funny, if you talk to any AvaLabs employee about the memecoin program, they’ll talk about what a massive waste of money it was and how it’s just punting millions away until the music stops.

If it weren’t for this program, there is zero chance Avalore would exist as I would have left the chain long ago, and I’m guessing a lot of you readers would have as well.

Instead, people have stuck around and reinvested a lot of their money and time here. You can say the program was inefficient or shortsighted or whatever, but I think the ecosystem today would be even more of a ghost town without the presale/arena launcher era.

And no, I’m not trying to say that people are only happy if they’re buying our meme coins. Don’t strawman me! All I’m saying is that any sort of incentives program is judged against that bar.

Is Build Games better for the community than spending $1M on community tokens?

As it stands, I’m feeling bad for the people that took the “Avalore every week” square on AvaxBingo because I’m not sure how much longer I can do this. (Btw, you have 24 hours left to mint your Bingo cards! Go mint some!)

You think I want to be writing these longform articles on the latest reason why the community is upset? No! I hate this serious bullshit. I just want people in charge to use common sense so that I can meme with the crew about Brando or Fish or whoever.

Throw us a bone every once in a while! Give the lads something to be bullish about! There’s not even grifters here anymore cause there’s nothing to grift!

I’m tired of trying to walk the lines between constructive criticism and peacekeeping and crashing out. It took a lot of effort not to full crashout this week!

In the end, the community will think this article was too nice (it was), and Labs will think it was too mean (definitely not). This shit is exhausting and no fun! Let’s all just agree to make good decisions moving forward. Ok? Ok.

Chain Activity at All Time Highs

As we move further into 2026, activity on AVAX continues to climb. Daily transaction numbers are up around 10x from this time last year and showing no signs of slowing down!

It’s great that after we’ve spent so much time on this chain contributing to its vibrant community, other people are beginning to take notice and flock here in droves. This increased activity has not led to a ton of positive price action, but these things tend to lag behind. Not financial advice, but it seems like this is one of those times where we are ACTUALLY early.

One cheerful community member, Zedi, has been chronicling the increase in transaction counts daily. MyPrizeUS has led the way with a flurry of activity, onboarding hundreds of thousands of new users to the chain.

Some great work by the BD team to get this deal done! Looking forward to the next few months as we keep this momentum rolling and those MyPrize users get more active within the larger AVAX ecosystem.

Despite this huge increase in activity, transaction costs remain staggeringly low! AVAX is about 49x more efficient than Solana for transferring tokens, even with this high usage! This is truly the Golden Age for our beloved red coin.

Build Games is a Huge Success

The list of the top 23 finalists in Build Games was released! If you want you can read the full post here.

There are some really strong candidates in that field, and I think it’s safe to say that the competition will be a massive value-add to our ecosystem.

But the job’s not finished! It’s now our job to play around with these projects and welcome this influx of builders with open arms. I’ll just list out a few projects that I’m personally excited to try:

Ammo Markets

Ammo markets is a marketplace for trading tokenized ammunitions. I’ve always wondered why nobody had bothered to put bullets on the blockchain yet, so I was really excited to see this one make it through to the finals!

AVAX is for tokenization, so this seems like a really great fit. I’ve got some 9MM rounds that I’m holding tokenized shares of right now, and if (when) an insurrection starts developing, I look forward to redeeming them for physical bullets. Hopefully someone will tokenize a gun soon so that I can get one of those as well.

Forg3t

Forg3t Protocol is building for a future where people want verifiable, on chain evidence that their data has been removed from a specific AI model. Regulations like GDPR require companies to prove that they have removed all personal data, and Forg3t is building the framework for showing that proof.

At this point, Claude knows everything about me. I don’t like that! I’m excited for a future where I can tell it to remove all my data, and then verify that process on an AVAX L1 like the good lord intended.

Looks like they were originally planning on building their own chain, but I guess they’ve come around to an AVAX L1 now. Why not? They’re so cheap! They’ve been building and brainstorming with Grok since July 2025, so they must have something really great cooking. Editor’s note: They took second place! Well deserved! Can’t wait to play around with this one.

Dhahaby

Dhahaby is poised to be the number 1 place to get loans against your gold and other jewelry. I hold a lot of my wealth in gold bars, so I’m really excited to have those as more liquid assets and be able to borrow against them on AVAX!

They posted that they were launching soon in December of 2024, so that means they’ve had over a year to really hone their product and I look forward to becoming a daily user.

It’s been a busy week for me, so to be honest I don’t have my usual patience to give you some whimsical, informative, foreshadowing introduction here this time.

Let’s just dive inside the zoos news.

Insider Trading??

Nobs had a nice little mini-crashout earlier this week about insider trading. Thank you Nobs! More people should crash out! Be like Nobs!

Anyway, Nobs alleged that people with early information accumulated a ton of KET for cheap to sell into the FDN bids that they knew were coming.

The crashout was triggered by this insider dumping a ton of tokens even this week, draining 40% of the remaining KET LP. Well, who could do such a thing? Who would know that the FDN was going to bid KET ahead of time???

Why, a Foundation employee of course!

Honestly I think insider trading is unavoidable. If you knew that the FDN was about to buy 8 figures of KET, it would be hard not to buy some and sell into that. But in the words of Ruxin from The League: “You had to rob the THIRD liquor store?? Just go to one! I stole a Kit-Kat last week! Nobody knows, just keep it small!”

Just buy up an extra allocation and offload it for mid 6 figs like a normal person! Don’t sell TWELVE MILLION DOLLARS worth of the coin! Keep it small!

Now of course people will probably say “You can’t prove it’s a FDN employee” and you’re obviously right, but people I trust say there’s a link. It’s also not surprising at all. You’re telling me the same people that shoehorned Gecko Inu into a memecoin rewards program are insider trading??? SHOCKING.

This is also nothing new. For those of you who were active in the days of FDN buying memecoins (ancient times, I know), it’s possible you had a setup tracking the FDN buys as they did not make any effort to hide them.

However, one Hateful discord took things a bit further, and after inspecting the FDN buys they found some wallets that were consistently buying the same tokens a minute or so before the FDN.

Tactical Retreat, being the optimistic guy that he is, posited that perhaps North Korean hackers had infiltrated the FDN process and figured out about the buys before they happened. The channel was then named accordingly:

I’m personally more of an Occam’s Razor guy myself, so I’d be inclined to think it was someone associated with FDN in some way.

Interestingly enough, after the wallets were reported to the FDN, the “insider” activity stopped! Maybe they closed off the North Korean’s access! Good work!

This next bit is exciting so I will bold the run-up:

We have sources!!!! We’re like a real news company now!!!11!!!

Anyway, a source that will remain anonymous reached out to me and told me that employees were actually fired/let go due to insider trading a while ago. They would not give me names of course, but it sounds like it could have been some people who “stepped down” last year as FDN transitioned to new leadership.

Hopefully it’s water under the bridge now, and we will have no more PvFDNEmploids moving forward. If you’re reading this, Matias, just keep your insider trading small! If it means there will be tokens to trade again, we’re cool with it!

Ferdy Sword

For those who haven't noticed, VQ has actually been grinding a ton on the FerdyFlip (sorry, FerdyBet) project!

The site was shut down a while ago but has since been re-opened and some new games have been released by VQ and his 5 Claude agents.

One of the games involved re-skinning “flip” as a fighting simulator:

This might look familiar to you if you are French and therefore a heavy user of the Capy Sword project!

People (me included) were quick to point out these similarities, and eventually baited the Capy founder to speak on the situation.

His post was long, but the relevant part is that he, like so many others, blames the “cabal.” This line of reasoning is frustrating on a few fronts, so let’s speedrun why this makes me angry:

1. There is no cabal. There are different friend groups and communities that support similar founders because they have built up trust over many years. If nobody in a group can vouch for you, they probably won’t blindly trust you.

2. Lack of support wasn’t because of lack of bribes, it was because many people came to the same conclusion that the token was being run poorly. The initial valuation was way too high (above BANDS at the time) and the team’s projections required $50k of volume per week. Many thought this was insane (currently has done around $80k over the last two months and dropping) so they stayed away.

That’s all I’ve got on this one! I think there’s just a lack of introspection here. Maybe the French community is too much of an echo chamber? Idk. Vive!

Team1 USA First Events

The newly established Team1 USA ran it’s first events this week! I can’t speak to the others, but the NYC one was fun and Vanya did a great job planning it. Yes, she has a gun to my head right now, thanks for asking.

Honestly I like these events because, at risk of sounding VERY mean, going to them is a bit like going to the zoo—there are so many weird people to observe and interact with. No shame to them! I’m weird too! I’ll highlight some of my favorite moments here. Hopefully they don’t read this (seems impossible).

One person traveled an hour and a half to this event without knowing anything about AVAX. Onboarding! I asked him what his experience with the chain was, and he mentioned that he ran a project a while back and looked for an AVAX KOL to do campaigns with.

He went with longtime AVAX lord and savior, Jesus Martinez! I asked for some details about the project, but I was shocked to hear it’s not around anymore. He seemed like a nice guy though!

My favorite person at the event approached us with his hood up (it was a dark, inside bar) and was excited to talk about why he thinks Solana has won the “blockchain wars.” It’s actually simpler than you think!

He says it’s because humans are animals (hence the zoo metaphor above) with basic needs. Solana hacker houses apparently had FULL SIZE candy bars, while other events skimped out with mini candy bars. Because of this, he thinks that people naturally flocked to Solana over other chains. Very insightful! This Team1 event actually had mini-tacos, so not a great sign for AVAX’s future.

He was also quick to show off the chain around his neck, which had two golden squares on it. Do you get it??? It’s a block chain!!!!1!!! Apparently this chain signifies his presence in the largest cross-chain DAO in crypto today (didn’t catch the name, sorry).

He also said that he doesn’t go to events unless he gets flown out and paid for. Maybe I’m angering the crypto Illuminati here? Go easy on me please, I’m just a peasant.

Build Games Round 3 Culling

It sounds like we jumped down to ~120 projects from the ~400 that were left at the end of Stage 1. Honestly at this point I’m just ready to see who the projects that get funding are—there’s not much to say about the competition until it’s over.

I’ve seen some examples of projects get cut that I know people put a lot of effort into, so I wanted to highlight some of them before we move on:

My lovely wife was working on a sourdough-themed ponzi (sorry, gamefi flywheel) project that got the axe this week. I still think it’s really cool and am hoping she continues. To be fair, she was having some second thoughts anyway. Running a ponzi is scary! People will be mad when it collapses (it always will) and there’s very little reward.

Some kind of guaranteed funding would have been nice so she didn’t have to rely on selling the token/skimming from presale to get her money’s worth, but obviously I have some bias here.

Make sure to message her and tell her she should still try to launch and you won’t be mad at her based on token price! Words of encouragement!

Mocket has been pulling daily 15 hour shifts working on his Flesh Nuggets game. Personally I’m not such a big indie gamer (sorry Wrath), but this has more effort than most of the games I’ve seen so I wanted to shout it out here.

He’s working on a Binding of Isaac style roguelike, and you can play the demo here. Hopefully he keeps working on it!

I put out a post yesterday trying to bait out some more projects but honestly I didn’t get many replies!

There were two separate token launchers that responded (probably no market for these currently!) and I know that Frogwell’s secret Avalore project got chopped as well. Apparently his Luma free trial expired before the judges could click his MVP link so it was deleted. Hate to see it! Should have used YouTube!

Overall I don’t have a ton of complaints. Once this is over I’m going to try to test all the winning projects and review them so you don’t have to! Then we can fully assess the impact of the program. Exciting!

Nahas Speaks With the Peons

John Nahas and Voh held a call to take some questions from members of the community this week and I was there! Avalore media pass!

It was a lot of yapping so I don’t have a ton to report, but it was cool for an executive employee to interface with the community on any level at all, so thank you for that! My main takeaways are that Nahas’ office has beautiful lighting and that Andy takes calls sideways in a spaceship orbiting Mars.

Nahas mentioned that he wants to see the AVAX ecosystem flourishing again. I asked him what that means, and the first thing he said was that he wants to see new defi primitives get developed on AVAX. He also mentioned that “success” to him would mean AVAX having 5-7 strong new native apps over the next year.

Another thing he said was that he doesn’t like KPIs, which was news to me! There are some KPI non-believers at the company! We must cherish them!

It seems like this type of call might become a more regular thing, so please feel free to send any questions you want asked and I can try to get them in.

The AVAX Summit location and time have officially been announced! Tickets have started being sold (I think, I didn’t make it past the 20 question form to verify this) so it’s all confirmed now. See you there?

Wrath Grift Launches On Time

Congrats to Wrath on minting another NFT collection! He doesn’t have enough gritty images in his universe, so I’m glad we now have 250 more of them!

All jokes aside, it’s cool to see the chain excited about things, and this mint definitely got the people involved. Good on The Gr***o team for giving us something to do. And we can even send them to work for points or something? And they come with a game or some kind of 3D model? I still don’t know what’s going on over there, but they’re definitely doing things.

I’ve already seen a bunch of them PFP’d on the timeline—shout-out Voh for changing to one and being community aligned. That’s a really nice way to show support (more on that soon). I can’t tell any of you apart now though so I will assume you’re all Wrath.

Avalabs Supporting However They Can!

I’ve wanted to write about for a while, and it’s a slow week so let’s dive in a bit here.

This is very common actually, where AvaLabs will notice a project is doing well and ask how they can support it. They’ve even reached out to me about this newsletter! They are becoming increasingly involved with CT which can only be a good thing. They notice when things are getting hot and are eager to fan the flames. Great!

Now here’s where I will be A BIT negative. Not crashing out! Just trying to push the conversation forward!

The main resource that AvaLabs/FDN has in abundance that these projects need is money. I’m sorry! That’s just how it is! Support = money. This is rarely what they mean by support though. Usually their support is in the form of “amplification” or “GTM classes” or “marketing workshops.”

I don’t want to discourage this, because obviously it’s better than nothing, but the reality is that stuff is not always helpful.

For example, the main account will sometimes RT my articles. It’s nice to feel supported! I will get a lot more impressions, but the engagement remains mainly the same (a couple more likes/comments from bot accounts) and the readership definitely remains consistent at around 300 views a week regardless of whether or not they RT.

Also as an aside, I don’t understand why exposing a good project on your chain to your audience should be seen as a favor or “support” for that project. Is it not mutually beneficial? Shouldn’t the main AVAX twitter be highlighting cool things happening on the chain anyway?

Over and over again I see people build cool shit and have to answer these “how can we support” messages and I just don’t get it.

“How can we support Bears and Salmon?” You can juice up their prize pool! The project made around $25k TOTAL and is paying Bear’s Den winners $20k of that! The 5k from the Team1 grant went to this!

“How can we support Avalore?” You can help me pay Frogwell for making 31 covers for free!

“How can we support Pointsmarket?” How about some small airdrop like you did for Retro9000 voters? Do you know how insane people would have went for that??

And to be clear it doesn’t always have to be BuY mY tOkEn, but injecting money into the project in any way is how you support. LP rewards/liquidity, sponsoring airdrops, juicing prize pools, even paying the team with some form of retroactive grant (like Team1 micros) is great! If you reward a team with a $5k grant, that’s $5k less that the team needs to make from their users.

Ok rant over! It’s cool that they’re trying, and AvaLabs is way more involved in CT/community than we’ve seen in the past. We appreciate it! I don’t want to completely dismiss the effect that a PFP change or tweets from employee accounts can have on a project. Just wanted to get this off my chest! It’s a slow week so I gotta bait engagement somehow!

More Grant Stuff!

Queue “Another One Bites the Dust” music! Who could have seen this coming?? Project that nobody used has to shutdown because nobody wanted it!

I don’t really know what they did, only that some suits were calling it a competitor to The G****o less than 6 months ago. So I guess it’s some kind of gaming thing? Whatever it was, it’s gone now. And in such a way that they needed to turn off replies on their tweet. Yikes!

Anyway, there was some good copy pasta in there—if you want you can read the full tweet here. I will now provide you the abridged version:

We wanted a potential buyer to give our community benefits but we had nothing to give in return. We couldn’t find someone to do that for free, so we’re just going to end the project ourselves.

The reason we had nothing to offer potential buyers is because we spent too much money, managed the treasury poorly (we kept it all in AVAX! Oopsie!), and had no PMF so we have nothing left.

Fun stuff!

In other grant related news, chain researchers Zedi and Tactical Retreat took a look at what contracts were being used by projects for this upcoming Retro9000 C-Chain round and found some interesting things listed! Remember, projects are receiving funding based on the gas burned by their contracts.

Zedi found out that AAVE is claiming USDC.e and EURC contracts as their own, and Tac saw that Blackhole has, amongst their 56 (!) contracts, listed WAVAX! I didn’t realize the Blackhole team was behind Wrapped AVAX! Very cool!

Seems like the Retro team has been responsive and has since removed these contracts, so this is less of a knock on them and more about these projects either not understanding the rules or trying to squeak out some more money without people noticing. Either way, not great!

Grayscale opened up trading for $GAYVAX $GAVA, its AVAX ETF product this week! The accounts swapped logo coloring with the AVAX account taking on the dreary, muted colors of the Grayscale logo while the Grayscale account took on the vibrant red that we know and love. Very cute!

Mastercard launched its “Crypto Partner Program” and we were included! Well, the emploids at Ava Labs were included at least. It sounds like the program is a large committee of companies that will discuss what the future of payments looks like with the Mastercard team.

This means Ava Labs is officially a top-85 blockchain company. Yay for us! Have fun in that 85 person Signal chat, Emin!

Team1 launched a fancy new Team1USA_ branch! Gold checkmark! Honestly it was news to me that there was no USA branch of Team1. Seems like the largest AVAX market so it makes sense to have one! Now we do!

And last but not least, we can finally buy memecoins with our AVAX—we just need to bridge to Solana to do it.

That’s all the news for this week! I wasn’t sure we’d have enough to write about this time but we ended up getting there. Definitely would not have been wanting to do daily posts this week. Chalk one up to the weekly format!
